Fall semester 2009 troubleshooting connecting to FSU's New VPN services...


Hello Customer: If Faculty, Staff or Guest/Vendor (no students at this time) encounters problems with the new VPN starting Fall semester 2009... FSU has installed a new VPN applicance located at http://vpn.fsu.edu The older VPN client is still online, but we recommended that you install the new AnyConnect Client located at http://vpn.fsu.edu If you are encountering problems, please contact the FSU Technology Services Help Desk. The Help Desk will ask you the following questions: 1. What is your name, telephone number, FSUID, Department, Buildiing and Room number? 2. Did you install the VPN client software called AnyConnect on your computer? 3. If you do not have a profile name, you will enter in your browser http://vpn.fsu.edu to access the VPN services. 4. Did your department give you a pcf file and a Profilename? If so, what is it? 5. How to sign on to the VPN with a Profile Name enter in your browser http://vpn.fsu.edu/profilename 6. Were you successful in logging into the vpn.fsu.edu ? If not, what happened? Did you get an error code? E-mail the helpdesk a copy of the error code. 7. If you still can not sign into the VPN service you department might be blocking you via a firewall or ACL, please talk with them about your problem. They maybe able to help you instantly. 8. Have you installed the latest free java on your computer? If not, go to http://www.java.com/en/download/inc/windows_upgrade_ie.jsp. Be sure to reboot your computer after the installation and try to sign into the VPN again. 9. If you could login to vpn, and could not get to network/computer resources you want to access...please e-mail it-help@fsu.edu or call the help desk at 850-644-Help. 10. Could you access these resources prior to the new VPN installation? If yes, provide the IP address and service you are trying to access. Also provide approximate VPN login attempt time. The Help Desk will create a trouble Support Request to be routed to our OTC Networking area. 11. Are you trying to remotely connect to your work computer? What is your work computers IP address? Have you configured your home computer for remote access?
