How do I add a device and activate the Duo Mobile app?

Multi-step verification supports landlines, tablets and mobile phones. Choose the type of device you wish to add from the list below.

Add a mobile phone and install the Duo Mobile app

The quickest and easiest method of verification is via a smartphone with the Duo Mobile app installed. If your phone does not support the Duo Mobile app, it can still be used to verify via phone call or text message by choosing Other during step 6.

  1. Access any multi-step verification protected page, such as the Personal Information page in OMNI HR
  2. Click Add a new device

  4. Select Mobile phone and click Continue

  5. Select your country, enter your phone number and click Continue

  6. Select the type of device you have and click Continue
    To use your phone to receive verification calls or passcodes only without installing the mobile app, choose Other

  7. Open up your phone's app store (App Store, Google Play Store, Windows Store, BlackBerry World) and download and install the Duo Mobile app
  8. Click I have Duo Mobile Installed

  9. A barcode and set of instructions will appear. Open the Duo Mobile app and follow the instructions to activate Duo Mobile. If you are able to scan the barcode, you will be able to click Continue to finish activating Duo Mobile. If your phone does not have a camera or you are unable to scan the barcode, continue to the next step.

  10. If you could not scan the barcode, click the link that says Or, have an activation link emailed to you instead

  11. Enter your email address and click Send email
    Click send email

  12. On the phone you are activating, check your email for a message from Duo Security and open the link in the email. If your phone asks which app to use to open the link, select Duo Mobile.
  13. Duo Mobile will be activated
  14. Click Continue to finish adding your device

Add a landline

  1. Access any multi-step verification protected page, such as the Personal Information page in OMNI HR
  2. Click Add a new device

  3. Verify using an existing device and method

  4. Select Landline and click Continue
    Select landline and click continue

  5. Select your country, enter your phone number and click Continue

  6. The device has been added and can now be used to complete multi-step verification

Add a tablet and install the Duo Mobile app

  1. Access any multi-step verification protected page, such as the Personal Information page in OMNI HR
  2. Click Add a new device

  4. Select Tablet and click Continue
    Select tablet and click continue

  5. Select the type of tablet you have and click Continue
    Select tablet type and click continue

  6. Open your tablet's app store (App Store or Google Play Store) and download and install the Duo Mobile app
  7. Click I have Duo Mobile Installed
    (Screenshot is for Android only - your page will correspond to the tablet type you chose in step 5)

  8. A barcode and set of instructions will appear. Open the Duo Mobile app and follow the instructions to activate Duo Mobile.
