Why can't I connect to my network shared drive while off-campus?

All network shared drives (K:) for CTS supported departments will always appear in Windows File Explorer. A red X will appear next to the drive if there is an issue. Follow these steps if you are having difficulties connecting to your shared drive.

  1. Start by making sure you are connected to the FSU Network by signing in to our FSU VPN service. This may require your computer to be rebooted.
  2. If a red X appears on your network shared drive (K:), simply clicking on the drive within File Explorer will refresh the connection. The drive should connect automatically and start to display your files.
  3. If you still don’t have a connection, try rebooting your machine.
  4. If the reboot was unsuccessful in establishing a connection to your network shared drive, submit a support request for assistance.
