What requires a VPN in order to access?

There are really only a few functions for when VPN access is needed:

  • System administration or application support
  • Soft phones
  • Access to shared department drives
  • Other departmental resources not available on the internet, such as DataCache
  • Managed Software Center (i.e., MUNKI)

If you are using a secure network, such as your home Wi-Fi, VPN is not needed for the following tools:

  • Email
  • Canvas
  • Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams
  • myFSU Portal
  • myFSU Mobile
  • myFSU HR, Financials and BI
  • Student Central
  • Zoom or other web conferencing tools
  • myFSUVLab
